Knox County Public Library is pleased to present the third annual Knoxville Jazz Festival. This year's festival promises an eclectic blend of traditional, Afro/Cuban, African and avant-garde music to please the palettes of jazz lovers everywhere. We'll introduce several new players to the Knoxville stage, including the talk of the jazz world, West African guitarist, Lionel Loueke, Michele Rosewoman, who has long been in the forefront of Afro/Cuban and avant-garde, the great drummer Ralph Peterson, another great drummer, Mike Clark, and Warren Wolf, a young vibraphonist guaranteed to take your breath away. Joining them is the amazing saxophonist, Jeff Coffin, Bill Mobley on trumpet, Essiet Essiet on bass and Pamela York on piano. As always, local jazz luminaries and young players will be spotlighted. Jam sessions at 4620 will follow the Friday and Saturday night concerts. Visiting musicians will teach free master classes at UT Music Hall on Thursday and Friday. Whether you're a musician, student, teacher or avid listener, you won't want to miss the opportunity to learn from the masters. |
